Today I rode the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola - Opening Day!  Along with Ben Thomas, from VIP Mountain Holidays, a high end vacation planning company based in Whistler, BC.  Ben spoke about 2010 Olympic Rentals in Whistler. For owners or if looking to rent out your Whistler Home or Condo for the Olympics Ben has some great advice.

Q: 'What should owners who are looking to rent their Whistler home or condo know about how to take advantage of Olympic opportunities?'

A: First thing is to talk to your property manager, if you have one, as they will have been in talks with VANOC or other Olympic or IOC groups. If you do not have a property manager, Whistler will be coming out with a temporary commercial use permit allowing owners of residential homes and condos to rent out their property for shorter than 1 month period.  One of the restrictions will be that tenants must not be vacated.

Q: 'What about tips for people looking for 2010 Accommodation to come to Whistler and experience the Olympics?

A: The market up to now has been for 1 month rental. Spectators are going to want shorter term bookings. That market is now just opening up as Olympic tickets are available now.
