It is 8:00 in the morning and your phone rings. Its your Real Estate Agent and he/she is on their way. They will be at your house in 2 hours. You look around and your house is in disarray. Where do you start?
Fill your sink with the hottest soapy water you can find and get those dirty dishes soaking while you move on to your next task. Clear off the dining table if needed.
Quick clean your living room: De-clutter, pick up any loose personal belongings and put away or hide them from sight. Quickly straighten all the books and papers by stacking them neatly in a corner, on a table or in a book case.
Tidy the floors: Pick up the dirty socks and put them in a hamper or clothes basket, put away or hide all kids' and/or pet toys and anything else that has been left around.
Vacuum as soon as possible: Often a quick once-over with the vacuum will make such a big difference that you won't need to do much more, but don't stop there. Fluff the pillows on the couch and give the curtains a little shake.
Dust all surfaces: Use a duster or damp cloth. Make sure you can run your finger over all surfaces without evidence of dust left on your finger.
Quickly make the beds: Fluff the duvet and pillows so they look new/fresh.
Finish the dishes: If you have a dishwasher load all of the freshly soaked dishes and turn it on (if not, now is the time to start washing).
Quick clean the bathrooms: Dump the garbage, wipe the counters, rinse the tub, sink and toilet. Shake rugs outside and wipe the mirrors.
Clean your kitchen: Sweep and spot-clean the floor. Wipe the counters, stove and sink. Put away any dishes, unnecessary appliances, food items, etc. Clean out your fridge and give it a quick clean (yes, home buyers will look in your fridge!). Take out the trash.
Survey your home: Do a quick tour of your home and clean, tidy and/or pick-up anything that is out-of-place.
